This third pause is unexpected.
There are those who view “The Do’s Series” as ended.
TomMee and Sid do not agree.
Nor do I.
The decision is not theirs or mine.
It remains for you to make.

It is with joy and sadness, we enter the ThroneRoom of the Dark Count.
Even in these final moments, there are others here to help.
There is hope. There seems always to be hope.
Until we meet back here again,
I wish you all well,
Until then,

Someone asked me, “In all the books you’ve read, who is your favorite heroine?”
The answer was easy. I said, “LoveJoy KickStart.”
“Who?” they asked, surprised.
When we started, I did not know that I would become so close to the FarWay girl.
I knew that this novel, this netnovel, would take on its written form within the limitless boundaries of the worldwide web. It would truly be, from the inception of its first expression to its ending, a webwork. The book would grow, take shape, find words and be seen on, and be a part of, what we call the InterNet. It could only find itself and discover its true life here, in this age, in this medium, because it is here that it, what it is and was, could be discovered and constructed. I might say, and I believe I am correct in saying this, the story was excavated and reconstructed within the virtual realities of the worldwide web.
This is, and may be seen by some as, a strange, different, and even a foreign concept.
LoveJoy is none of those. She is, to all, a familiar, caring and often amazing young lady.
“Who?” they ask, in wonder.
“The fair huntress of the FarWay heights,” I answer. “The white lady of the Battle Across the Reclaimed Lands, the pretty young girl who may lose her life that others may live, the girl whose life I hold so dear.”
“Where do I find her?” they ask, their interest piqueing, leaning closer to me.
“Why, right here,” I answer. “I saw her here – only a segment ago.”
“Segment?”
“Just start reading. You’ll find her.”
“LoveJoy?”
“That’s right. She is my favorite.”
“Anywhere?”
“Yes, read and see for yourself.”
I did,
Grandpa Jim
This is “The Third Battle For the East Ridge” — “The Battle Across The Reclaimed Lands” and “Before The Center Gate”.
The action is fast and furious. LoveJoy leads the charge, with HitBolt, DawnRunner and TidBit at her sides.
The Count waits and watches from his balcony, for the two armies to meet, only to be disturbed by some unlikely fliers.
On the field, Sir Richard forces outnumber the men and dwarves, the Knights of Schwangau and the SpiderRiders of DropKells. The Allied line extends only so far. They can be flanked and turned. Their cause defeated.
The Dark Count relaxes and dreams of victory.
For now, read soon and quickly.
And see.
Grandpa Jim
Never has pasta been such an ingredient and played such a key role in the efforts of so many.
We do not know the outcome of The Battle of BarterIsland, but we do know what the Count has been told.
We do not know the outcome of The Battle of the West Gate, but we do know where and why the Count is ordering his forces.
Soon the fog will lift over the reclaimed lands of the East Desert and those waiting in the mist will be revealed.
While in the vatholds, a Scot and Sailor exchange plans of battle and banter words of wardrobe.
Is victory on hold or does it wait below for new form to take charge?
On these parts, the blinding light of new day will shine.
At some, for others and on this their fight.
The stage is set, the players ready.
Soon, the curtain rises.
Grandpa Jm
The great battles of any day are seldom one or themselves without uncertainties and surprises. The New Days is no exception.
Of the final conflict, the battles begin in the Cavern of Doris. In the channel between Hook Point and the Spokes, two fleets prepare to meet. Pirates under their AdmiralCaptain lie in wait for the deepboats that carry their DownTowners.
On the flatpave below the West Gate, BrownRobes wipe the wet from their foreheads and squint through the misting rain at what they can’t see but they can hear. Great mystery is shrouded in night. The unsuspected moment first appears to those who meet and battle it there.
Sunrise breaks in the east. Day approaches. Two battles have been fought. Others await.
Segment 27 holds those two. It can be found on the front page. If not there, it and any other Segment wait for you under the tabs and listings for “The Do’s Series.”
Don’t this miss this one or any of the others. Enjoy your read and prepare for the next.
Grandpa Jim
Battles approach.
Reports are that two battles will be fought first.
One in the Caverns of Doris near the Spokes of Smugglers Den.
The other below, up the roads to, and before the West Gate of the East Ridge.
It is uncertain what the outcomes will be or if those outcomes can be easily determined by the viewers.
Your views are important and may help to determine the final outcome.
Be here Saturday and follow the action as it develops.
Until then and when we know more.
We wait with you.
Grandpa Jim
In the Dark Count’s throne room, plans are made.
A fool arrives, delivers and is detained.
An Admiral drops a map.
Unbowed, the BentOne Commander takes count.
There is in waiting a calm annoyance that troubles even stately minds.
The unknown can be addressed with certainty but remains robed in future waiting.
And the common players to their stations take and with quiet reserve pause to hear their call to stage.
Take count, study the map, assess the plans and yourself your own forecasts do to make with patience opportuned.
Soon.
Grandpa Jim
What does Sir Richard have in store for those who approach his lair?
A fool arrives with little humor and a new demeanor.
A pirate emerges in new threads.
A map on the floor.
An old BentOne appears unbent.
Three ways in for those that can, but are there more?
Attack seems imminent, plans are in place, positions have been taken.
And now we wait.
Before.
Grandpa Jim
Forces march, launch, swirl and gather for the final assault on the East Ridge.
Please take the time and enjoy this 25th chaptersegment, “Gatherings — To The East Ridge.” If this Segment is not on the HomePage, just look for “The Do’s Series” above or to the right and scroll down to “Gatherings.” Click, open and read. This is for you.
The discovery of “The Do’s Series” webwork has challenged and intrigued many over a wide space of time. With origins dating to the Long Ago and even the Age Before, we have followed the recording of this netnovel in the Old Days, reflecting the happenings in the New Days, to the discovery, excavation and reconstruction of the webwork in the Time Again.
Behind all of this, there is a simple story of love, intrigue and persistence. Things seldom appear as they are. Sometimes, what they do is more important than what they are. This our players do. This is their stage. Their story may not, in some sense, be limited in time and space, but what happens is now open to view by you. Perhaps, for the first time, “The Do’s Series” can be seen in all its simplicities and all its intricacies, and remembered for what the players do, will do and have done.
Enjoy,
Grandpa Jim
